+In one or two sentences, describe the main themes present in your game.
Silo_Remains is mainly about finding meaning and warmth in an absurd world where everything decays.
+What was the inspiration of the game?
What made your team decide to make this game specifically?
Our game draws significant inspiration from the biblical story of the Tower of Babel and the anime "Made in Abyss." We were particularly captivated by themes of isolation and communication barriers, as well as the concept of descending into increasingly absurd environments. This downward progression became the structure based on which we explored how meaning can be found in absurd territories.
+Were there features you had to remove, and if so, what were they and why were they removed?
Our game previously centered on a mechanic where players switched to an "observer" avatar to explore invisible dangers of the world. In our second iteration, we shifted the core mechanic to focus on communicating and exchanging meaningful symbols with NPCs. We ultimately abandoned both of these core mechanics as their complexity and redundancy impeded our goal: making a game where the player discovers warmth and meaning within a decaying world governed by absurd rules.
+Talk about your teammates! What was everyone's role?
Our team consists of Alvan, who handles 3D art, graphic design, and audio production, and Toby, who is the lead programmer and technical artist. Together, we collaborate on game narrative and gameplay.
