Interview with the Developers
+In one or two sentences, describe the main themes present in your game.

Hunger, violence, rebellion, persecution, pain, and love; a vulnerable body and heart in a hostile world.
+What was the inspiration of the game?
What made your team decide to make this game specifically?

The game’s core narrative was initially inspired by songs about queer turmoil and desire, and it evolved into an expression of a painful facet of the queer experience; the consequences of being unable to assimilate in an unsafe environment. We wanted to make a game that doesn’t shy away from depicting difficult topics, especially in a time when people have become troublingly averse to being challenged emotionally.
+Were there difficult moments when developing the game? What led to those difficult moments? What did you learn from it?

Partway into development, we were hitting a wall and were struggling to decide if we wanted to switch from a top-down pixel game to a higher resolution side-scroller even though it would mean starting over nearly from scratch with both the art and the programming. We were concerned about time and visual consistency of our artists' styles at the higher resolution, so it took much extended discussion to make our plan. But, ultimately, we found that the stress of scrapping most of what we had so far and starting fresh was worth it. We continued development with renewed enthusiasm and a more solid direction.
